We Don't Need to Learn Sales


One of the most prevalent arguments I’ve heard about not learning sales is that people don’t need to learn how to sell. I always heard people say, sales can be done, they’re not a problem, you can wing it even if you don’t have training in sales.

My experience in sales says otherwise. Sales is a process. It needs to be learnt just like anything else. Miss a few steps in the process and you keep circling around till those processes get done. This wastes precious time for both the customer and for the sales person as well as for the company.

I recently tried to attend a workshop on the selling process. However, the workshop was cancelled as there were not enough people interested in attending the workshop. People still do not value how important it is to understand the selling process and what it requires. Therefore, what we see in the market are mediocre sales people who are just going through a process that they have learnt from their predecessors and which isn’t necessarily the best approach to maximize sales.

Sales needs to be learnt and it is about time you put in your time and effort to learn.
