Sales isn’t Everything!
Yes, you heard it right.
While sales is the eventual purpose and outcome resulting in the revenue of the company, that sale did not happen without the support of many other functions of the organization.
Production, Supply Chain, Finance and many other departments collaborated to make sure that product bought by the customer was available for sale at the right place, at the right time. Even the security guard on duty at 4 a.m. was responsible in getting that product sold.
The product you sold is just as much a result of the hours spent in getting the raw materials, putting them together, transporting them to the store as it’s sale is the result of the product development, market research, customer identification, negotiations and the value transfer done by the Marketing and Sales departments.
Appreciate the efforts made by your team mates. Embrace them as team members and not as rivals. They are there to help you. Recognize their efforts from time to time.
And you are there to help them. Get customer feedback. Process it and present it in a positive manner back to the production and design teams so any improvements can be thought through and implemented.
Work as a team and you can win the customers!
