Do You Represent Your Product/Brand?
During my career I’ve come across many people who are just in the business of selling for the paycheck. They do not believe in their products, their brand’s value or their own company. The result is that their sales pitch comes off weak.
Would you buy from a person who does not believe in their own product? I think not.
A sales person needs to believe in their product, to be enthusiastic when they are talking about it. Their eyes should light up, they should be energized, they should be excited. The need to show that they really love what they are selling and they want to share that happiness, that feeling about that product with you.
They own the product as their own. They believe in the value of the product. They believe they can make your life a better one through their sale. They believe your relationship with their product will be a positive one.
A sales person who believes in their product will steer conversation towards their product and how you can buy or own the product rather than away from it. They will be knowledgeable about their product and its features and they will share that information with you. They will not shy away from letting you know everything they know about their product (and on the off chance that they do not know, they will make their utmost effort to find the information and let you know.)
A sales person who represents their brand will fill you with a positive energy; a sales person who does not believe in their product will suck the energy out of you.
At the end of the day, the sales person who lives, breathes and embodies their product will end up making more sales, making more customers and making more returning customers than the sales person who does not represent their product.
