You Closed the Deal; Now What?


The customer bought from you. Congratulations!

But before you get to calculating your commission, understand what else can be done. The sale is not the end of it. There are a number of things you can do which will make it worth it for the customer and for you as well.

Here are some of the things you can do after the sale is done:

  • Say “Thank You!”. One of the most important things you can do for the customer and for yourself is to express your gratitude. The customer will love you for it and they will return.

  • If the goods are to be delivered, follow up with all the departments involved to ensure that the goods are dispatched and delivered to the customer on time. A small step from your part can ensure the customer is delighted with your service.

  • Get the customer’s feedback. The customer can teach you a lot about what they were expecting and how you can improve yourself not only for your next interaction with them but also with other customers.

  • Ask for a testimonial. Make sure the customer is willing to review and rate your products and service. If you have done everything right, you should expect a good response and the customer will give you a good rating. Customer testimonials will help your prospects make up their mind to use your products and service or not.

  • Ask for referrals. A happy customer will help you grow your customer base. Make sure that you ask for it.

  • Ask if they are going to come again. If your product is one which the customer may use on a regular basis, you can ask them if they will commit to a reorder. This will help you forecast your business needs and smooth out your own supply chain. When the customer is back to restock, you will have the goods ready because you prepared for it.

Following a few simple steps will ensure that the customer is happy and that you can continue to grow on your sales long after the deal is closed.
