Be An Effective Sales Person (Video)


In order to be effective, the sales person has to be available for customers.

The most convenient forms are phone and e-mail.

However, this does not mean you should be chained to your desk 24/7.

Let customers know your business hours and have backup contacts either within your department or in Customer Services.

Also make sure you give a call back on all calls that are missed and respond to every e-mail.

In case of a planned absence, make sure your e-mail is setup on auto reply and the customer is informed of whom to contact in your absence. Do not leave the customer hanging.

Engage customers and find out what keeps them awake and how you can be of help to them.

If the customers start seeing you as a problem solver, you will be the first one they call when they have an issue.

To be an effective sales person, take on challenges. You will learn from the opportunities and your skills will get a chance to shine through. Stay hungry and keep learning.

Know that your time, your customer’s time and your company’s time is precious. Learn to respect time and not waste it.
